Lara Schnitger – Stitch Witch
Museum Kranenburgh, Bergen
The exuberant and humorous work of artist and ecofeminist Lara Schnitger (NL, 1969) pointedly addresses issues around women’s status, gender inequality, and sexual oppression. She utilises textiles to craft both intimate sculptural pieces and expansive installations, often inviting public participation. Her solo exhibition at Museum Kranenburgh introduces the public to the diverse oeuvre of this internationally acclaimed artist, who is underexposed in the Netherlands. For Stitch Witch, Schnitger has developed new works that explore the connection between humans and nature.
Museum Award
Museum Kranenburgh received the Agnes van den Brandeler Museum Award 2024 for this exhibition. This award is presented by the Agnes van den Brandeler Foundation for museum projects that draw attention to individual artists (born before 1978) who have been unjustly overlooked for some time.
